How To Get Rid Of Chigger Bites Naturally

Chiggers are the immature mites that feed on small mammals and also on humans. Scary! Chigger mites resemble like very small red color spiders and it’s so difficult to spot them with the naked eye. These tiny creatures attack the tender, soft, and wrinkled skin. They usually bite around waist, ankles, armpits and crotch area and are very similar to mosquitoes bites. Chigger bites create the pink bumps with a red dot in the middle and cause severe itchiness.

There are many natural remedies that can help you to fight against chigger bites.

Baking Soda
Do you know baking soda has anti-inflammatory properties which can soothe painful chigger bites? With its alkaline nature baking, soda suppresses the itchiness by neutralizing the skin. Take one cup of baking soda and create a thick paste using water. Apply it directly on the effective area. Leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes and then rinse with water.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Do you know apple cider vinegar works as an astringent and helps in relieving itchiness by neutralizing the affected area? It has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties which can suppress any infection and reduce swelling and pain. Using a cotton ball apply apple cider vinegar on each chigger bite. Let it dry and repeat this twice a day for a week.
Tea Tree Oil
Do you know tea tree oil has powerful anti-inflammatory properties which can treat many insect bites including chigger bites? Because of its antimicrobial properties tea tree oil is widely used to prevent infection. Apply the tea tree oil on the affected areas. Leave it on and Let it dry. Repeat this twice daily until you notice an improvement.
Oatmeal Bath
Oatmeal has powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties which can treat many skin conditions like pruritus, dermatitis, and acne. Add a cup of oatmeal in the bathtub and soak in it for 10 to 15 minutes. Do this daily for a week.
Coconut Oil
Coconut oil contains lauric and capric acid which can reduce itchiness caused by chigger bites. It also has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties and helps to alleviate bites pain and suppress swelling. Apply the Coconut Oil on each chigger bites. Leave it on and Let it dry. Coconut oil will also keep your skin clear, soft and moisturized.

Follow these tips to get rid of chiggers before they cause intense itching.

Step 1: Apply mosquito
Apply mosquito repellent to exposed skin to get rid of chiggers.

Step 2: Clean your yard
Clean your yard of tall grass, brush, and weeds. Chiggers will not survive in areas that are well maintained.

Step 3: Bathe in soapy water
Take a bath in warm soapy water as soon as you are exposed.

Soapy water will remove any attached chiggers.

Step 4: Wash clothes in soapy water
Remove and wash your clothes in hot soapy water immediately after exposure.

Step 5: Rub with towel
Remove attached chiggers by rubbing down the affected skin area with a towel. Chiggers will feed for 3 to 4 days in an area if not disturbed.

Step 6: Apply cold cream, baby oil, and nail polish
Seal the affected skin with cold cream, baby oil, and nail polish to alleviate itching.

Itching will occur until the body neutralizes the chigger’s saliva and repairs tissue damage.

Step 7: Enjoy the summer
Enjoy the hot summer months without all the itching.
